***Artist Statement***

Michelle is a self taught mixed media artist with an emphasis on creating Art Dolls. Michelle, who is known as the "Crow", currently resides in a small magical village located in Pennsylvania. As a little girl, Michelle has been drawn to the world of imagination and fairy tales. Her art work expressies itself in a childhood innocence and whimsical eccentricity. Each piece of art work is unique and 100% handmade in the USA.

"My art relies on pure basics: paper, fabric, clay, glue and paint. Each intuitively created art piece is essentially European, both primitive and refined, playful but contemplative. Buried secrets seep into each layer-- a white gesso primed surface, followed by an ebony stain before any color painting is to begin. The vibrancy of each art piece is the harmony of flaws and form forged in my passions. My art is both urgent and grounded wrapped in a historical carapace of antique, European notions and fabrics.
My art invites you personally into my spirit and my journey by becoming images that are universally familiar and poignant, and yet charismatic, beckoning the viewer to search for their own soul's journey hidden within my dolls."
